REFLECTIONS

Experience:
The Design Research Dissertation programme was a rewarding experience that involved me in the study of academic writing and independent research. Continued engagement with the topic of personal interest and relevance from the previous semester allows for a greater understanding of the impacts of sound design in animated advertising. It was a difficult but worthwhile process to analyse and synthesise data that have gathered into a thorough dissertation draft. All in all, this module offers various opportunities for self-directed learning, emphasising the importance of critical thinking and ideological discussion in the field of design.

Observations:
Throughout the projects, the need of precise research implementation became clear. The combination of primary and secondary material into a cohesive analysis was critical to the dissertation's success. The complexity of design's relate with sounds underscored the necessity for an advanced methodology to study and critical review. Furthermore, the advice given during tutorials and discussions addressed the need of mentoring in improving academic writing and conceptualising design publications.

Findings:
The culmination of this module led to profound findings regarding the symbiotic connection between research, academic writing, and design exploration. The process not only deepened comprehension of the chosen topic but also fostered self-awareness regarding strengths and areas for improvement in research methodology and scholarly communication. Moving forward, the emphasis on publication as a means of disseminating research findings globally resonated deeply, emphasizing the significance of contributing to peer-reviewed journals for wider recognition and the advancement of knowledge in the field of design.

In conclusion, the Design Research Dissertation module served as a pivotal platform for honing research skills, fostering critical thinking, and understanding the intricate interplay between sound design and advertising animations. It laid the groundwork for future academic endeavors, instilling a profound appreciation for the synthesis of theory and practice in the realm of creative multimedia design.
