REFLECTIONS

Experience:
This module has been an enriching journey, exposing me to various aspects of animation and compositing design. From the very beginning, I worked on different projects that required technical proficiency and creativity. Project 1 introduced me to basic motion graphics principles, allowing me to explore the technical side of creating compelling visuals. The process of working on Project 2 and 3, which focused on channel bumpers and channel idents, pushed me to think about brand identity, storyboarding, and the importance of audio-visual synchronization. By the time I reached the Final Project: Abstract Motion, I was able to synthesise all the techniques I had learned, creating a theme-based motion graphic video that expressed deeper concepts.

Observations:
Throughout the module, I observed that planning and ideation were just as important as the technical aspects of animation. Without a clear concept or direction, it’s easy to lose track of the narrative and message behind the animation. I also learned that the details in transitions, timing, and camera movements make a huge difference in how fluid and engaging the final output is. Looking back, I realized how much I grew in balancing creative freedom with technical precision. Additionally, I observed that feedback from consultations, especially with Mr. Fauzi, was vital in refining my work and achieving a polished final product.

Findings:
I discovered that motion graphics and compositing is not just about creating visually appealing sequences, but about conveying a message and evoking emotions. This module helped me to strengthen my understanding of motion principles and develop my skills in using compositing software. One of the key takeaways was how important pre-production is — developing clear storyboards, animatics, and mood boards laid the foundation for better execution during the animation process. Moving forward, I aim to improve my time management and idea generation, so that I can produce more refined and meaningful projects in the future.
