FINAL PROJECT

 1. Write a biography about yourself

My name is Chew Zhi Ern and usually, my friends would rather call me Yumi which is my nickname. A Gemini girl who was born on 14th June 2003 in Selangor, Malaysia. My parents were divorced when I was still in primary school, so I grew up in a single-parent family and currently live with my mother and my younger brother. Although there are some relatively unfortunate events in my life, I still firmly believe and desire that there is always love in this world.

I would say I am an introvert when in public but sometimes not and a person who prefers to stay in my comfort zone rather than push my limits to some challenges. However, I know that only by stepping out of my comfort zone only can become a better version of myself. So, currently, I'm trying to meet the overcoming. And once I’m really forced to do it, I’ll still bite the bullet and try my best to do it well. Although I’m an introvert, I enjoyed making new friends and exploring something interesting.

Life to me means hope, passion, freedom and love. Life is being thankful and it is an opportunity to experience new things, meet new people and learn as much as possible. I prefer to go out rather than stay in which I like to travel and experience. I have a dream which is to travel around the world with people I love. As yet, I have a bunch of bucket lists and life goals that I wanted to accomplish. Such as travel to Iceland, Maldives, Disneyland and more. If there has a chance, sports that I really wish to run into are skiing, diving and skydiving.

Summary: An introverted Gemini girl who was 19 years old this year and passionate about life. Besides, one of the things I am most proud of is that I was the school lion dance troupe member in high school which means a lot and is extraordinary to me.

2. Write a statement about your work

In this design, I wanted to present my work in a simple but interesting way. It's like a reflection of my personality, which likes to explore interesting things. Additionally, with what I have learned, I utilize the golden ratio in design to make my work to creates a pleasing aesthetic through the balance and harmony it creates.

There is a neon sign located above the design. I would like to add this element because it gives me a sense of outstanding, brightness, and hope. Besides, unlike any other form of lighting, neon was multi-dimensional. On one hand, it wields endless creative possibilities only a skilled glass bender could realize. Just like people, only by unremitting efforts to explore their unlimited potential can they become outstanding and capable talents. Furthermore, it is available in a wide variety of colors resulting in countless unique designs. This also means that each individual is a unique self-composed of different advantages.

Apart from that, I would like to add some elements about myself. Therefore, I decided to add a lion dance, noodles and also Gemini. As I mentioned before, the lion dance brings back very important memories for me. About noodle, it is my favourite foods. And the Gemini sign which represents my horoscope. The figure in the picture is presented in black and white, but the eyes part uses some learned techniques to present in color to stand out and also to remind me to learn to observe more around me.

Summary: This design uses the golden ratio for composition and presents the overall feeling in a simple and interesting way. 4. Idea Exploration and Process

Through some visual analysis, I came up with two different composition sketches. In sketch 1, I used the rules of third and the golden ratio in sketch 2. I used Procreate on my Ipad to sketch these out and the canvas size is based on an A4.

Below are some images and elements to be used:

I decided to digitalize my poster using the composition of sketch 2 which is the golden ratio.

5. Digitalized Poster

I prefer design 2's composition more, so I defined it as my final poster. I have also tried on some different backgrounds in design 2.

6. Animate Progress

Animate the poster using Adobe After Effects with some skills we have learned. Then, I also added music that I downloaded from the Bensound website for free and cropped it to use only for a specific part of the animation.
